Q: Can I use my own firearm for the training?

A: We recommend you use your own firearm. 


Q: Can I transport my firearm to the range if I don't have a CPL?

A: Yes according to MI law:

MCL 750.231 (d) To a person while transporting a pistol for a lawful purpose that is licensed by the owner or occupant of the motor vehicle in compliance with section 2 of 1927 PA 372, MCL 28.422, and the pistol is unloaded in a closed case designed for the storage of firearms in the trunk of the vehicle.

(e) To a person while transporting a pistol for a lawful purpose that is licensed by the owner or occupant of the motor vehicle in compliance with section 2 of 1927 PA 372, MCL 28.422, and the pistol is unloaded in a closed case designed for the storage of firearms in a vehicle that does not have a trunk and is not readily accessible to the occupants of the vehicle.


Q: Are there any additional costs?

A: Additional costs are range fees, firearm rental if renting firearms, rounds if buying rounds from the range and range fee for live fire exercises. 


Q: How do I register for a class?

A: Register by using the "CONTACT" tab to contact us with your desired class date by explaining this in the "MESSAGE" box.

A: Class dates are listed on the "HOME" page


Q: What should I bring too class?

A: A pen and paper for notes. 


Q: How long is the certificate good for?

A: After completing the course the certificate is valid for 5 years.


Q: Is there a dress code?

A: Students should dress for safety and comfort during live fire exercises such as no open toed shoes or no low cut shirts which may allow hot brass to fall inside


Q: How long is training?

A: Training is completed in 1 day; 8 hours at the same location.


Q: What happens if I don't complete the training?

A: Students must complete the required training to earn a certificate. Arrangements for future classes will be made if circumstances prevent the student from continuing scheduled training.


Q: Where do I buy ammo?

A: Students buy ammunition from the shooting range; about $15 for 50 rounds


Q: Can I use my personal hearing protection and safety glasses on the range?

A: Yes, students may use their personal safety equipment for the range, but these items will also be provided by the range.


Q: Can I concealed carry immediately after class?

A: No, certificates will be issued after successful completion of the class which is the first step towards earning a CPL.


Q: What are the steps after class to complete and receive my CPL?

A: Students will take their certificates to their local county clerks offices. Students will pay approximately $100 to the county clerk. The clerk will copy the certificate and issue a receipt for payment received. Next, the receipt will be taken to the students local county sheriff's office for fingerprints. The student will pay the sheriff's office approximately $15. Finally, within 45 days the student should receive the CPL in the mail.


Q: What is included in the pistol safety training program?

A: The training must include the following:

*safe storage, use and handling of a pistol including, but not limited to, safe storage, use and *handling to protect a child 

*ammunition knowledge, and the fundamentals of pistol shooting 

*pistol shooting positions 

*firearms and the law, including civil liability issues 

*avoiding criminal attack and controlling a violent confrontation 

*all laws that apply to carrying a concealed pistol in this state 

*at least 8 hours of instruction, including 3 hours of firing range time.


Q: I have an out of state driver's license can I still obtain a MI CPL?

A: Yes, as long as you have a residence established in MI. A voters registration card with a Michigan address proves you are a Michigan resident which fulfills the MI residency requirement.


Q: Why do I need gloves?

A: Gloves are only required to use our firearms as a protective layer against "slide bite."


Q: What kind of gloves do I need?

A: Snug fitting driving gloves, mechanic gloves or fingerless workout gloves work well.


Q: Can I get a CPL without a valid driver's license?

A: Yes, state ID cards are acceptable forms of identification to obtain a CPL
